Windows Xp home edition recovery issue

The six disk Windows XP floppies will do nothing to recover a from a crashed OS. It is only to get the installation started for those that don't have a computer capable of booting from a CD. You still need a Widows CD to make use of it.

I have never used the six disk boot disks but I suspect it is failing because it cant find your hard disk which is needed to copy the necessary programmes onto to get the system started.

So the first thing to do is check to see if your hard disk is still being recognised by the BIOS.

However, I suspect there is something else going on as there is no way a set of Microsoft Disks would have anything to do with DR-DOS.

In short it is pretty useless as all modern computers are capable of booting from a CD notwithstanding that few computers these days even have a floppy disk drive.

Do you have a Windows XP CD, either an OEM recovery CD or a an installation CD. If you dont you are going to have problems.
